So I've been thinking about the stuff we've got in the plugin so far. I understand that the plugin is far from complete, but from the looks of it, after the combos, changes seem to only include bug fixes and not many new shiny moves.
I'd like to bring up that subelements are not properly fleshed out. It's a bit better with the community-coded abilities, but to make complete "kits", so to speak, on servers, they need to have more moves. Lava, for example, makes for a very decent addition, especially with LavaThrow, but Metal is less exciting. The ability to bend iron blocks is of course fantastic and fills a certain niche, but other than that, they only have Extraction, with no use to people who dislike mining. It's less applicable than Lava, for example. Even with Metalthrow, it leaves things to be desired. Ice only has one move too, and plenty of unique icy things have been shown during season 2 of tlok.
So, I have some food for thought for the concept designers, or possibly some coders amongst the community.
I'm sure you've seen these infamous scenes:
Throwing a metal ingot at a player is nice, but underwhelming, and I have a feeling there is room for improvement. For example, and this is aimed more at the Concept Designers, you could make a similar move, that, when hitting a player, the ingot would disappear and the target would equip iron boots. Shortly thereafter, you can move your mouse around for about 3 seconds, and the target would be under a more accelerated and responsive version of bloodbending's effect. The move in the show would translate nicely to minecraft, too.
Don't take this the wrong way. This isn't supposed to be meant as a "omg u guyz sux y u no make more". In fact, we love the plugin so much, we are dying to have more awesome skills on our server. I loved Orion's original plugin, and I love the newly added content even more. The devs have done an amazing job with that. But to properly offer subelements in a balanced and equal manner on our server, we need them to be more fleshed out. "Well, why don't you download community-coded moves instead?" You're right, and we do. But "there are community-coded moves out there" shouldn't be a reason for the subelements to not be fully developed in the core plugin.
Am I ranting about something completely redundant? Am I the biggest idiot on the interwebs, which is quite possible, or do some of my points have merit? Please do share your opinions below.
Also I understand MetalWrap is a horrible name but the move itself wasn't really the point of this thread. Also now I feel like having Mexican food tonight
