With the energy bending, maybe the player you are trying toggle their bending can try to fight to stop it. They could do this by punching or pressing space, and the XP bar could be an indicator of how far you are to outpower them.

This is also the same with ALL other moves that don't require punching etc. If you shift and have your torrent going around you, it will stay if you are bloodbent or chi blocked. Airbubble still goes if you are bloodbent aswell.
