I second that, actually. Being able to use the durability of your armor would be pretty cool, if possible. Or being able to put armor in your metalthrow bind slot, to do an attack that would do more damage. Kind of like when this happened:

I suspect the doubling ingot issue with metalthrow stems from a collision with grass, tall grass, and probably other plants.
