What version of ProjectKorra are you using? And you can change it in the config from the white particles to: smoke (default), blacksmoke or spell. NOTE: The new particles are only in the Dev builds,not 1.2.0.

Yes, you have to stay there and focus on the slot to make the bubble. I don't see how making it toggleable would make it more realistic. The move doesn't need much for focus in the show..
