I like the concept & how you thought it out, but in the long run it would lead to some over powered styles of bending. I don't think the whole science part is necessary, but the effects are. Right now my opinion is that you could just use phase change instead. But I think the idea is cool.

This should wait for 1.9 in my opinion. 1.9 is supposed to be the combat update, which more than likely means new weapons/abilities. But either way I like it, although does 4 health mean 2 hearts in total? If it means 4 hearts in total, maybe less would be better.
