People do not bend with movements only, i think Bumi did bend earth with his mind when he was captured in this metalbox with only his head sticking out. Meaning: there can be other ways to Show that the bender is concentrating on his bending than movement such as shifting.

Crystalarmor? Doesn't sound really canon. And neither you would get a iron armor set, i wrote an iron chestplate. Plus you wouldn't be able to take it off (thought that would be logical, but no..?). Neither they would drop the iron chestplate, as they die the policeforcegear will toggle itsself.
