Yea it's something that has been bothering me for a long wile now. Totally have my vote on this one.

The idea is great but I think that if the bender dies the spirit dies as well. This is so that the spirit can't use this as an offensive ability and would require co-operation from bot of them.

Well the more skilled airbenders slowed their decent by safely gliding the last few meters till they reached the ground. Wouldn't this cause issues with airburst ? it would be annoying at least. If this were to be implemented it should be configurable and personally I think it should be an RPG...

A quick question : can you use custom items that you made as part of the crafting recipe of another item ? Ex: add iron around the air staff to upgrade it into a more stronger/durable version.

So what you are suggesting is a new water bending stat that would give an item the ability to act as a water source for a configurable amount of uses right ?
