Hey there, I'm not gonna lie but I DID indeed get this small Idea from @owlcool surge shield redirection post. After reading it, I thought that Surge shield is pretty dull when it comes to anything attack related. So, I thought why not think of something to make it offensive?
I was thinking that maybe by switching to ice spike and left clicking to change the shield into ice, Along with the phase change the opposite side of the shield will have one or two 2 block long pillars (configurable perhaps). An alternative version would be for you to erect the surge shield, left click with surge to change it to ice, switch over to ice spike and left click (still holding shift of course) to cause the spikes to rise. For both versions in order to undo the technique you would change it back to water, making the spikes disappear but the shield remain.
I'd say that upon a player touching the spiked side of the shield, they would take half or one heart of damage without any armor. I think this would be helpful for water benders who have to fight chi blockers or any type of aggressive benders that try to get close in that manner. The shield will obviously have more spikes depending on the size of the shield (And if it is seemingly OP, I think the solution would be for the shield itself would be smaller, like remove the little extra on all sides for the 3x3 square.)
Ice missile: By clicking more than once with ice spike, the spikes on the opposite side of the shield will be shot in whatever direction the shield is facing. I haven't decided whether it does one or two hearts, If it's two hearts the shot should go in the general direction the shield is facing while the one heart shot goes directly(configureable). Only if it's possible it'd be nice for the shield to get smaller as each spike is shot, it disappearing after the last one is delivered, each shot having a cool down of 3 seconds (configurable).
