I am opting to use direct downloads for the resource pack instead of the resource manager, as it is likely this will be updated far more often than our plugins will.
We are adopting a new-ish release system for these things. The first set of numbers (1.8.1) is the MC version the Resource Pack is designed for and the Update 1 is the specific update. This is our first update for 1.8.1 and it is properly called 1.8.1 Update 1.
Please continue to throw out any suggestions / report any bugs you may find in the appropriate sections of the forum. We are looking for more people who are experienced enough to work on Resource Packs, if you fit the bill, apply to be a GFX Artist. more about this will be posted in this week's update. (Being posted on Saturday instead of Friday due to the Holiday).
