In chemistry, there are physical changes and chemical changes, and you seem to be mixing up the two. Physical changes are where the state of matter changes, like steam to water to ice to water to steam etc. The substance doesn't change, just the thermal energy it has, and that can be bended across elements.
Glass is where sand (or just earth with a high surface area) reacts with oxygen, and forms an entirely new substance. It is basically burnt earth. As a result, it is a CHEMICAL change, not physical, so the logic here doesn't work. Denied.
