What is this suggestion about? Basically, it's making basic moves do combo-like effects. In the show, you see firebenders shooting 3 blasts of fire before they switch to something else. You saw Hama use Torrent (Might be because of the full moon) 3 times before switching to something else. What I am trying to say is you use a certain move 3 times and it something different happens.
Basic Move Effects:
FireBlast 3x - Light damage - moderate damage/knockback
AirSwipe 3x - First airswipe is horizontal. Second airswipe is vertical. Last airswipe is diagonal.
WaterManipulation 2x (Shift) - WaterManipulation is bigger/stronger, but less control.
EarthBlast 3x (Shift) - EarthBlast becomes stronger/faster with more knockback, but less control.
IceSpike 2x (Shift) - IceSpike is 3 blocks 1x3 and is faster, but no control.
This will not interfere with the existing combo system because you can still switch between a move mid-combo. AirSweep will just feature 2 AirSwipes. It will look more appealing and if they do the entire combo, the cooldown will set in.
The difference between using these basic combos and just spamming them a certain number of times is all moves start out with light damage to moderate and there is no cooldown in between (unless you pause mid-combo). And once you complete the entire combo, a longer than normal cooldown will begin.
This fixes the issue of spamming because a longer than normal cooldown will set in. It also makes fights more strategic.
