Actually a move that might be cannon, good job! It does at least seem more realistic compared than breathing underground, litterally in stone or dirt or sand.

Maybe this could have like a chiblocker punch type effect. If someone uses this the INSTANT they get damaged, then it will blow up in their face.

You would want to do this so that you can make traps only firebenders could activate quickly. This would be useful in something like factions, opponent chasing you, use this move and drop them into lava. Stop using it and it will close in on them. A bit more useful then just extending red stone...
