Think of it this way Hydro, if a hose gets snapped, everything above becomes useless and the rest of the water keeps on coming out. For it to be like this, it'd be like cutting the hose and reconnecting the pieces that were disconnected; which in terms of bending doesn't make that much sense.

Just enough to call it defensive, I like to classify the elements. Air-Mostly defensive Earth-Mostly defensive with some offense Water-Mostly offensive with some defense Fire-Mostly offfensive

I don't recall Firebenders being op, and in order to effective use these defensive moves they'd have to gain distance first.

It only makes sense that it would explode on the Earthblast, being an actual surface (and fire being volatile as fffffflying lemur) itd only make sense for it to explode. And the reason why it wouldn't be OK is because Earthblast is already slow, meaning blocking it would still be difficult. Oh...

In 1.8 it seems to not effect it whatsoever.
