As a earthbender you are in control of the situation as long as your tethered to your own element.Being the ground you tread on, Coming from under your target is always a option, Via earthgrab, also airshield can block a lot, but I doubt it can withstand a shockwave. Also its not the element...

Hmm maybe,the base of a combustion is white,and and as it gains range each pop noise releases a ring of redish fire.

Is there a possible substitute for the fireworks? Although they would look best they would probably cause some lag.

I don't know if firework particles have the same full on lag issues as smoke,or the first airbending particles.

That would be a slight issue,there could be fewer particles to prevent full on lag, although when airbending got its first make over it lagged but was later revised.

There could possibly be a 1-2 second delay before the combustion explodes in their face allowing the chiblocker time to get out of the blast.

Well I don't know if chiblocking would be a great idea,its a melee attack and I don't know if you would like to stand that close to the explosion.

Its not as powerful as it should be,about every 30-40 seconds you can blast 1. It moves really slow as well,you also need to hit the targets feet. But earthblast and chiblocking would be great ideas to stop combustion benders.

Things like lightning and illumination wouldn't really be effected by the blue fire.

You could be prompted when you choose fire if you want blue or red fire. Blue would give higher damage and red gives longer range.

In the show blue fire is very rare,and out of both series only 2 people could use blue fire.

Hmm I don't know,i think it would be more of a toggle/given thing.

I have done this first hand,when your about to launch yourself, looks as if your about to blast off but then you dead stop and return back to your normal position.

Blue fire attacks to make it slightly more balanced could have a shorter attack range,this wouldn't be so severe that the move is useless,just slightly making the range shorter. Reason being is bluefire,although hotter it consume Oxygen a lot quicker then your classic red/yellow/orange flame...

Could there atleast be improvements to combustion itself then? The move itself is really wonky and off balance, You can get hit right in the face with the move and nothing actually happens.
