Help showing different players element in towny chat?

I have PK 1.8.9 installed alongside towny, essentials and vault, and I'm having trouble getting the {element} tag to show in game from the towny chat configuration file. Are there any other configuration files I should be working with before I try to change it? Or am I doing something completely wrong with how I'm trying to configure the chat?

Any help to get the servers chat up and running with the {element} tag would be GREATLY appreciated!!

I believe that is from Essentials.
In Essentials config there's an option which replaces the tag of the chat, you have to change that option to false.

I am also having this problem, using ChatControlPro. When I use the {element} tag, it doesn't work with the plugin. I have projectkorra chat disabled.
