Sokka was there for the longest time for comedic relief. In the movie he told 0 jokes.

Aang Smiled almost all the time in avatar the last airbender the tv show, and he did not smile once in the movie.
The fire nation salute was changed from a bow to make the fire nation as much like Nazi Germany as possible. Zuko in the tv show,

So just to get that straight, the director of this movie was racist. Lets look at quality acting and script, with Katara saying Aangs name as soon as he came out of the iceberg, but then katara asking him for his name, many hours later. Either that is bad script, or it is classic forgetful girl sexism. And then again, they mispronounce Aang's name throughout the entire movie. Also, this is the power that the fire lord can only get during the comet.

No, it was obviously something that was very rare for a firebender to do, or unheard of, and it wasn't "Simply Less Powerful" because of how much they stressed that sozin's comet would give them the power to create fire, and if all firebenders could bend without a source, why would zuko fight aang without firebending for so long as seen in the first video on here.

Shymy's daughter is a fan of the original animation, I don't think they were expecting this crapload, and once it was made they wanted to get back a bit of their money from the terrible investment.
