Controlling own shockwave
Seen by Toph, an earthbender can affect their own released quake to leave a certain area of bendable ground unaffected. Here's how it will work: When the shockwave is released and is on the run, hold shift and look at the direction to where a pocket of "forcefield" should be created, that prevents any disruption 5x5 from your specified area.
This would give a use for a team stradegic plan, that gives an opportunity to fully charge this ability without any disturbance, while your pals are distracting the enemy, allowing you to release this attack without injuring your friends in your way, after the ability is charged
Controlling other's shockwave
An earthbender would be capable of creating a pocket of 'blocking' (can't think of a good name), that is similar to the above idea but with the difference of blocking someone else's shockwave in a 5x5 area around you. To avoid this complete nullification power over shockwave, the user will have to hold shift before, even including at the same rate, the victim uses the move --to prevent the shockwave blocker from blocking the shockwave's attack.
This would give a benefit to stop approaching shockwave from hitting you. Again, don't rely on this technique too much, because the user of this ability could stop you from doing the move ,if done in time.
