Quote - Ice floor: With a sufficient amount of water available, a master can cover a large area of the ground with ice, trapping their enemies' feet in ice while allowing them to slide around. This technique was used by Pakku during the Order of the White Lotus' liberation of Ba Sing Se[34] and by Ahnah during a fight against an Earth Empire mecha suit.[35]Tahno used a variation of this technique to only momentarily freeze the floor locally in order to cause Bolin to slip during a pro-bending match.[36]

Description - Make water come out of a source to freeze the floor in ice, allowing you to use more ice related moves and trap your opponents feet.

How is this not OP?
  • You need a water source.
  • The ice will disappear in time.
  • Using a piece of ice as a source (aka watermanip, icespike) will vanish.
How is this useful?
  • Trap someone in ice.
  • Be able to use ice dependant moves.
  • Slide around the battlefield in ice for a while.

If this will be using the requirement of needing to hold shift, this could make it look that the waterbender puts his/hers effort into sustaining the freeze. While I still would want for the ice floor not to be completely immune to thermal condition alterations, make it so that for both ,waterbenders and firebenders, take some time to melt/unfreeze this water and/or a tiny proportion of the ice at a time.

When you are guiding the water to where you want to freeze (Because it would be like a stream of water with a tail) you have to hold shift. Once you let go of shift, then it will freeze.

There we couple cases where the bender had to keep their focus into leaving the water frozen as long they controlled it. One of them being Katara, where she displayed it right after she stopped her fired ice spears they turn into water and splashed on the ground when she wasn't bending them anymore.
