Looking Into Earthwave (Resuggestion)

Here's a cleaner and organized post from my very old thread.

Basics:
  • Earthsmash shouldn't allow the user to ride. Plain and simple.
  • As for the replacement ^: a new move called Earthwave.

If you read the avatar wiki, this is an earthsmash self-helicopter technique but more nerfed so it ain't transports you like the holicopter....

How to use it:
  1. The User has to take a huge fall to trigger it (like how 360-shockwave does).
  2. Once it forms, the user must immediately sprint (Toph style) or sneak (Aang style) so that it doesn't disappear and go on cooldown.
  3. Once the user sprints/sneaks, the wave will start rushing forward and move the user who's above it along the way.

Stuff to know:
  • Since earthbending isn't suppose to be too mobile of an element, it should only move the user to go straight.
  • "It takes a lot of energy to produce, as well as intense concentration; the slightest distraction could cause the user to lose control of the wave" therefor it should break into pieces when unsneaked/unsprinted.
  • Any bender can shatter the wave and interfare the surf, by holding sneak at it with Collapse, which would cause to trip.
  • Surfing process wil have a duration.
  • Only travels along the ground; doesn't sprint and fly like the current earthsmash helicopter.

The Avatar Wiki said:
Earth wave: High level earthbenders can create a wave of earth to ride on and use it as a form of transportation,[25] as Aang and Toph have both done,[23] as well as Roku and Sud while training.[26] The downsides of the wave are that it takes a lot of energy to produce, as well as intense concentration; the slightest distraction could cause the user to lose control of the wave. They can also force a wave of earth outward and use it as an extremely powerful offensive attack, as both Aang and General Fong were seen doing during their battle[15]

Earthwave should allow the user to move but very limited movement. Also instead of a huge fall, how about just the catapult click cause the huge fall creates a lot of the same problems, earthbenders going up instead of forward. This will also help with more of a use of the catapult click. Also the should be a Feature where if you let go of shift, the surf will keep going and push any users out of its way making the move more dynamic and useful. Other than that I like this.

I agree. Either in one limited direction (where the user is looking at) or limit it to sharp turns (no diagonal routes, slower and harder maneuvers).

Sure.

Great idea. Didn't thought off that.
