Thanks for reporting. I can confirm this and will make sure it's fixed in the next beta :)

As we've said, 1.9.0 will support MC 1.9 and we currently have no plans to bring 1.8.0 to 1.9 right now. We have offered solutions in the meantime but at the moment the safest option is to stick to 1.8.0. :)
