Hello everyone -

Have you needed a reason or incentive to hone your development skills? Have you had an idea that you wanted to see implemented into ProjectKorra? Well now is your chance to do both. Today, we are announcing the first ever ProjectKorra add-on development contest. Even if you don't know how to develop an add-on, here is your chance to learn. Read on for more information.

What you need to know:
  • Submissions will be accepted for 3 weeks from today. This means that all submissions are due on Friday, April 7th at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (United States)
  • Submissions do not have to be complex in code, rather, both creativity and execution are weighted equally.
  • The winning submission, and other notable submissions are eligible to be placed in the official ProjectKorra (Core) plugin (may be subject to additional tweaking by our Concept Design Department)
  • The winning participants will receive a $20 prize. Must be accepted via PayPal....

Before I begin, if you live in the Eastern United States, I hope you stay safe and warm this week. This snow seems to be no joke (I literally just left the east coast on Saturday, so I'm just missing this snow storm).

I wanted to take a moment to update you on a few things going on behind the scenes and talk about some things coming up.

First and foremost, things have been moving a little slow. Most of our staff is in the middle of midterms week or some other equivalent. That said, we simply don't have as many developers working on the project right now as we'd like. The silver lining to that, of course, is that it's almost over and we are just about ready to pick up development at a rapid pace again.

Now, that doesn't mean that nothing has been done. @OmniCypher told me to give you updates on the following:
  • Re-added the OctopusForm feature that freezes water under you.
  • Fixed an issue where Chi descriptions/instructions weren't displaying....

Since our launch, we have prided ourselves on creating a community that promotes the open flow of ideas. The suggestion system as it existed often led to ideas being lost or knocked far back, only to never be seen again. Thanks to @Loony, we have worked to create a new system to ensure that suggestions are easily sortable and easier to track.

Suggestions can be made in the same way as they always have. We now have different sub-forums for various parts of the plugin. This will help our concept designers and developers when planning releases. Often times, a concept designer will be looking for, say, a Chiblocking suggestion, and would have to sort through many pages to find them. Now, they can simply click on the appropriate subforum and find what they are looking for.

When you go tot he new suggestions area for ProjectKorra (Core), this should make more sense. But here's what the categories mean:

  • General: All non-element specific stuff goes here....
